New Users: Guide to using the advanced features of the site

This post has been a long time coming, but I’ll do my best to walk everyone through the advanced features of the site. You can get a good grasp on the basics by checking your direct messages and going through the tutorial sent to all new users from Discobot

Basic Navigation

At the top of the site, you’ll notice an action bar. The one on the very right, is where you’ll go to see all of your notifications and navigate the menus.

The first tab, the bell image is where all of your personal notifications will show up. Your image bookmarks. The image is your personal messages (Direct Messages). And lastly, your preferences image.

To bookmark posts for easy access, click the image button below each post, or the image on your feed below each post.

Follow Feature/Notifications

Recently added was the follow feature, once you follow users you’ll get a new notification every time they post anything, including things that are not to you. To change this, head on over to your user preferences, then click the second dropdown menu (on mobile), and select notifications.

Scroll to the bottom and uncheck whichever you decide, the last one should be unchecked more than likely. Unchecking the Notify me when someone I follow posts. box will greatly reduce the amount of notifications you receive. However if you don’t follow everyone it’s a very useful one to leave checked. Click Save Changes to apply the changes.

On desktop, after going to preferences, the options will be on the left side of the screen.

To enable Live Notifications, click The image button and your browser will prompt you to select allow. This will enable you to receive notifications on your device immediately when something is posted. Because of this feature, there will never be an app required to use all of the features of the site.

Embedding Videos & Pop up Player

Another recent feature is the ability to play the videos on the site in a pop-up media player that can be minimized while playing, even for YouTube videos. More sites will be supported in the coming days, for places like Bitchute, etc.

Here’s how to view them and what it looks like.

At the top right of the video, click the maximize button, sometimes it’s not right at the corner of the video and a bit further to the right.

It will then pop-up into a window at the bottom of your screen and can be minimized using the arrow pointing down and afterwards will minimize to the bottom of the screen. You can then browse other pages of the site in the same window and continue listening to the video.

This has issues with certain mobile devices, but should be fixed within the next couple days.

The videos must be posted a certain way for this to work.

Rather than posting the regular video link, you must use the embed link.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

You can find this by clicking the share button on the video page, then clicking the embed button on the left. This only works when viewing a page in desktop mode in whatever browser your using if using a mobile device, and can be modified using the code above.

Then copying this text.

You can copy the code above and replace the YouTube link to the video you want to link by modifying this portion of it.

This post will be updated to include other features in the near future, here’s a couple other threads that explain more features.

Setting up encrypted messaging.

Setting up telegram notifications

Enjoy the site!
